Dinner at Benny's

L1010121GrilingI managed to grab some dinner with Amjad and Eric. What I thought would have been a horrible dinner turned out quite tasty. We went to the Benihana's in Concord, CA and had Filet Mignon and Chicken. The cut of filet was perhaps one of the most tender that I've had in recent years. Nothing of course will top the July 04 Wyoming trip that Katherine,, and I went on, but this was damn good nonetheless. There were all kinds of cuts of meat:L1010112GrillinL1010115Filet MignonNow what would be a trip to dinner without embarassing one of my friends without a birthday song ambush. Eric was the recepient this time of the Benihana Band's wrath.

Peterson Museum ---Vroom

I went to the Peterson Museum back on July 2nd. There were a few cars that caught my fancy. In a later entry I'll go through in more detail about the cars and the history, but here are few snapshots for you to peruse:DSC01672DSC01671DSC01668DSC01729DSC01746DSC01583DSC01720DSC01686

USS Midway- San Diego

Last Sunday I went out to San Diego to do a tour of the U.S.S. Midway with the NATEA (North American Taiwanese Engineer Association). It was an ok tour...I just wish I had more time to explore the carrier. We wasted quite a bit of time stopping at La Jolla, and the Cabrillo National Monument, where we pretty much did jack squat.

Here are some highlights of the trip. I was supposed to get credit for a group photo I shot for the NATEA, but apparently the Pacific-Times newspaper and Taiwan Daily Newspaper didn't bother to give me credit and just credited the NATEA. That really pissed me off, so I filed a complaint and intend to pursue a claim for damages resulting from copywrite violation. My dad just called me up this afternoon and asked me to call of the dogs on the Pacific-Times, but I'm still seething from being screwed.

So this is what I sent those suckers on Sunday since I was so irrate:"Dear Pacific Times:I'm writing in respect to your July article on the North AmericanTaiwanese Engineer (NATEA) visit to San Diego. I am not affiliatedwith the NATEA nor did I give them permission to use my photo for thePacific-Times.You article uses a photo that is copyrighted material that I own. Idid not give my explicit consent to either NATEA/Pacific-Times for itsuse in your publication. The photos were published on my websitehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/7726280@N02/sets/72157600962106294/ withclear indication of copyright "(c) All rights reserved." on July 21st,2007 prior to yourarticle's release this week in the Pacifc-Times.Your use of my photos without my written or verbal consent iscopyright infringement.Furthermore, I was not credited for the work, nor have I been paid forits use. Please call me and ceases circulation of this photoimmediately. For the aforementioned copyright violation I respectfully requestcompensation of $200 for damages relating to copyright infringement. The alternative is for me to hand this matter to my attorney.XX"

Taiwan Reeb Festival

On Sat. I made a trip out to Pomona to check out a promotion for Taiwan Beer. It was pretty silly if you think about it; I'm allergic to alcohol and can't drink and I don't really feel a tight bond with Taiwanese even though that is my cultural heritage. Nevertheless, I went and made the most of it.

Parking was a ridiculous $8. General admission was $15 (but I managed to avoid this). Beer? Beer well Taiwan Beer and all beers for that matter cost $6. You had to wait in a long line to get into a caged area where alcohol could be served.

The best part of the whole event was....no not the bikini contest, no not the import cars

and no, it was not the joy of standing in line that so many Taiwanese people seem to enjoy.

,no not even the music mixed up by the Groovnet DJs.

The food was the only true redeeming factor.

It was damn hot, so I called the festival to an end fairly quickly and headed down to Newport to hang out with my buddy Charn.

Malibu

Last week I needed to relax a bit and change up my daily routine. For the last few weeks I've been primarily up in the Bay Area and haven't had much of chance to truly enjoy my geographical surroundings in Southern California. For those who know me well, I have consistently been talking about how shitty I felt the valley was. However, this week I decided to look for the good and here's the visual representation of my findings:

Photoshop you say? NAY. That's just a long exposure where my cousin and I ran out of  the picture before the shutter had finally snapped.

I named this picture Venaja. It reminded me of an old friendship I had. Extremely special, rare, and warming.

I don't know what it is about a sky filled with clouds. It just has this calming affect that comes over me when I turn my head upward.
